No, we generally do not recommend shaving the area yourself before a tattoo appointment. If you accidentally irritate or damage the skin while shaving, it can make the tattooing process more difficult.

If the hair in the area is very long or thick, you can safely trim it shorter with an electric trimmer. But avoid razors, waxing, depilatory creams, or anything else that may irritate the skin.

At the studio, we can shave the area closely and carefully with a razor right before the tattoo so the skin is properly prepared.
