Is It Normal for My Tattoo to Look Patchy While Healing?

Answered by Sude ErdemTattoo artist in Los Angeles

Yes. A tattoo can look uneven or patchy at different stages of healing, especially while peeling and while the new surface layer of skin is still forming.

Some areas may look darker, lighter, or more faded than others temporarily. The full healing process usually takes around 2–3 weeks, so wait until the tattoo is completely healed before judging the final result.
