How Long Should I Wait Before Getting a Tattoo Touched Up?

Answered by Sude ErdemTattoo artist in Los Angeles

A touch-up is not always necessary. About one month after the tattoo is done, I check how it has healed. If any small areas lost ink during the healing process, I refresh them free of charge.

Long-term, if you protect your tattoo well from the sun, you may never need a touch-up. It’s common to see tattoos that are 15–20 years old still holding their color and contrast very well when they’ve been properly protected.
