Can You Combine Several Reference Images Into One Tattoo Design?

Answered by Sude ErdemTattoo artist in Los Angeles

Yes, but you do not need to plan every part of the design yourself. In most cases, simply sending me the main subject or overall concept and telling me the placement is enough to begin.

If possible, I actually prefer to design the background and smaller supporting details myself. Those elements need to be built around the anatomy of the specific area, and every small shape, shadow, texture, or brush-like detail I add has a purpose in the overall composition. They are not placed randomly.

Trying to decide all of those elements in advance can make the design process unnecessarily difficult for you. Choosing the main subject or concept is usually enough, and I can build the rest of the composition around it.
