I recommend keeping a fresh tattoo out of direct sunlight until it is fully healed. UV exposure can irritate healing skin and can also affect how evenly the tattoo settles.

If you need to be outside, keep the area covered with clean, loose clothing rather than applying sunscreen directly onto a fresh tattoo. Sunscreen should only be used once the skin has fully healed.
