Not necessarily. Even a very talented tattoo artist may not be experienced with cover-ups. Cover-up tattooing is a different specialty, and both the technical process and design approach are different from regular tattooing.

Always check the artist’s cover-up portfolio before booking, and don’t look only at fresh results—check healed cover-ups as well. Otherwise, you may end up with a tattoo that is much harder to fix later.
