Can Skin-Tone Ink Cover an Old Tattoo?

Answered by Sude ErdemTattoo artist in Los Angeles

No. Skin-tone ink cannot reliably hide even very light scars or stretch marks, because tattoo pigment cannot perfectly match your natural skin tone. Even if it looks close at first, the color will change as it heals.

For cover-ups, skin-tone ink will not hide a darker tattoo underneath. The old tattoo will show through after healing, so it is not a proper cover-up method.
