Can I Swim While My Tattoo Is Healing?
No. You should not swim until the tattoo is fully healed. A fresh tattoo is essentially an open wound, and swimming exposes that area to microorganisms that can cause infection.
This is especially important with the ocean, lakes, pools, and hot tubs, where bacteria and other contaminants can come into contact with the healing skin. Even if the water looks clean, that does not mean it is safe for a fresh tattoo.
Soaking can also soften the healing skin and scabs, causing them to come off too early and leading to patchy healing or pigment loss.
Wait until the tattoo is completely healed before swimming.
