Should I Moisturize My Skin Before Getting Tattooed?

SAnswered by Sude ErdemTattoo artist in Los Angeles

If you do not normally use moisturizer, don’t start using a new one just before your tattoo appointment. A new product can cause breakouts, irritation, or another skin reaction, which can make the tattooing process more difficult.

If moisturizer is already part of your normal routine and your skin tolerates it well, you can continue using it. It may help a little if your skin tends to be dry, but it does not make a dramatic difference.

The priority is healthy, calm skin. Trying a new skincare product right before your appointment creates more risk than benefit.
