How Long Can You Realistically Sit for Your First Tattoo?

SAnswered by Sude ErdemTattoo artist in Los Angeles

A full-day session is usually manageable for a first tattoo. I haven’t had a first-time client who needed to stop a full-day session halfway through.

Placement can make a big difference. Areas like the ribs or neck can be much more challenging, but with breaks, most people can still get through a one-day session even if it becomes painful.

Back-to-back sessions are different. Two or three consecutive full days can be much harder, and depending on your pain tolerance, you may not be able to handle that comfortably. If you have enough time, I usually recommend one day at a time, or a maximum of two consecutive days. More than that is manageable for a much smaller number of people.
